The number of Awards made each year will be determined by the number
and quality of nominations received. Awards are made to groups rather
than to individuals.
The Award recognises outstanding achievements by groups in the UK
who volunteer their own time to enhance and improve the quality
of life and opportunity for individuals or other groups in the community.
A successful group would have demonstrated that it:
- Meets a particular need
- Provides community focused voluntary activities of a very
high quality
- Has generated a high level of goodwill and respect amongst
those it serves and the community as whole
- Has evolved locally and is run locally and
- Has a proven track record of active involvement in the community
for a period of three years or more for the social economic or environmental
well-being of individuals or groups.
The Award’s for 2004 will be officially announced on June
2nd (the Anniversary of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee) a certificate
signed by the Queen and a commemorative piece of crystal, to be
displayed at the group’s main place of operation will be presented
on Her Majesties behalf by the Lord-Lieutenant for the county in
which the group works.
BlindVoice UK is one of 110 groups who are
honoured to receive this award in 2004.
