SocialEyes - Trip to York

In August 2007 I ventured down to York on the coach for a trip out. This was the 2nd time I’d been to York with BlindVoice UK. The last time I went we had fun confusing the locals by activating the lampposts that, when triggered by an electronic device, help visually impaired people get round the city by announcing locations and directions.

This time, I decided that I needed to find out more about how beer is made so, myself and Joe who is a member of CAMRA paid a visit to York Brewery in Mickelgate. This was a very informative trip and we got to taste the various barleys that go to make all the various award winning beers that they make there. When we were there they were cleaning up one of the large fermenting vats for the next beer. Afterwards we tried a couple of free halves of their products then we went back to have lunch and meet up with the rest of the group who had been to Jorvik and other attractions.

In the afternoon I walked off the beer and went down to the River Ouse where there was a carousel which I had a go on, Anyway, I really enjoyed my day out in York and I recommend the visit to the York Brewery. I hope to go on more excursions with BlindVoice UK.
